EQUIPMENT:

 You will be expected to show up the first morning with;

A fixed blade knife- with a 4-6in Blade. NO machetes! as cool as it is to have one, please leave it at home.

Water source- i.e. Canteen, Nalgene bottle, something with a rugged design. please do not show up with a standard vending machine style plastic bottle, this will not be acceptable.

A canteen cup- or something equivelent. You need a small metal cup preferably stainless steel, this is how you will boil and purify your drinking water, as well as be your mess kit!

Rain gear- Its Washington! So understand that it does rain, lets stay dry! Bright colors are prefered but not mandatory, just bring some type of rain coat or poncho.

A Day hiking pack- If this is your first time heading out in to the woods I recomend keeping it simple, just a day pack works just fine, there is no need to spend hundreds of dollars on a brand new Multi-day pack. Even a school backpack will work as long as it has two good straps and can withstand water, wind, and general use from being in the woods.

An ignition source- Either a Magnesium fire starter, or a metal match. Feel free to bring your lighters if you are a smoker, but we will not be using them to start fires.

Baby wipes- hardcore is cool, but no one wants to wipe with leaves!

WHAT TO WEAR:

Boots- Have a good pair of hiking boots with some kind of ankle support, NO tennis shoes, or basketball sneakers.

SOCKS!- These are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! please have wool hiking socks, and bring enough for your trip. this means one pair per day, plus two extra pairs!

Pants- Jeans are fine as long as they fit your body and do not "sag" however, I recommend getting some light weight pants that are designed for hiking and the outdoors, these usually have been double stitched in all the right areas to keep from tearing.

Shirts- Bring layers, a Base layer is a must and a requirement. A light weight long sleeve shirt, a mid-weight shirt, like a microfleece is also needed.

*Coats and other cold weather gear will be determined depending on the season, and area we are going.

A great place to get the things you will need is REI. You can either visit your local store, or check out there website at www.rei.com you can also get most or all of these items at any local outdoor sporting store.

I will also recommend you check out www.craghoppers.com this is a british company that makes clothing specifically for outdoor excursions.

* Depending on situation I do have extra gear that I can rent out for one or two people, but please do now show up expecting to rent equipment and gear from me.
